Job Description And DutiesLimited Term 12 months; may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent.
Under the general supervision of the Health Record Technician (HRT) II (Supervisor), the HRT I performs health information related functions according to established California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) and California Correctional health Care Services (CCHCS) policies as well as institutional Local Operating Procedures (LOP). The HRT I processes Release of Information (ROI) document requests, assists in sorting, prepping, and scanning patient documents, and maintains tracking logs of ROI requests.
Minimum Qualifications: All Levels:Education Requirements: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade. (Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Either IOne year of California state service clerical experience which includes training and supervised work experience in the procurement and processing of health data.
Or II Two years of clerical experience in the medical or health records section of a health facility. (Successful completion of an academic curriculum in medical records science in an accredited school may be substituted for the required general experience on a year-for-year basis.)
Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position(s).

Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.

Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position(s).
